Key features

Data privacy

Nanocell-csv works 100% off-line, your data is never leaving your computer. Nanocell-csv.com runs on a static server which, by design, only sends data on request but cannot register any data. Don't take my word for it, checkout the source code [here].

Data accuracy

CSV data is text and Nanocell-csv makes sure values are being handled as such. Leading zeros and '+' signs are kept. No more data corruption of phone numbers, zipcodes, etc. Pasting data also finally works as you would expect, no more paste reformatting or column split action to perform !

Instant view large files - O(1) 😉

This is achieved by sampling the header, the footer and a few rows at regular intervals without parsing the entire file. The goal here is for data experts to quickly understand what they are dealing with when first opening a file. That is before they start using heavier Big-Data tools like pandas, pyspark, powerBI, R etc...

Install anywhere

Nanocell-csv requires no .exe file for installation and is completely cross-platform. You can use it anywhere, even at work, for those subject to an admin lock.

Data validation for database import

quickly identify and resolve any unconventional issues in your data. Make sure that : headers are limited to alphanumeric characters, encoding is UTF-8, values do not contain line breaks, and much more. Nanocell-csv helps you streamline your workflow before database import.

Instant Large File View

Open a 2.5 GB CSV in milliseconds without freezing my laptop just to inspect the schema
The Pain Point

You download a 2.5 GB database dump or server log. Opening it in Excel freezes your entire system or crashes with an "Out of memory" error.

Writing a Python script or booting a notebook with Pandas just to check the column names and inspect a few sample rows takes minutes to parse and consumes gigabytes of RAM.

The NanoCell Solution

NanoCell opens multi-gigabyte files instantly in O(1) time. A background Web Worker samples the header row, regular intervals across the file, and the footer without parsing the full file.

It automatically engages View-Only Mode (locking edits) so you can safely verify schemas, column counts, and sample records with zero risk of file corruption and zero RAM strain.

Zero Data Corruption: Verbatim Text Accuracy

Zip codes won't lose leading zeros, phone numbers keep their '+', and IDs don't turn into scientific floats
The Pain Point

You open a customer list, order table, or inventory export in a standard spreadsheet. The application tries to be "smart" by guessing data types.

Zip codes like "02138" lose their leading zero and become 2138. Phone numbers like "+44 7911..." lose their +. Product codes like "84E02" become 8.40E+03. When you save, your original database identifiers are permanently destroyed.

The NanoCell Solution

CSV is text, and NanoCell handles every single cell as pure verbatim text. Zero unwanted type casting, zero loss of leading zeros or signs.

Pasting raw delimited text fills the grid predictably without triggering broken delimiter split dialogs or auto-formatting accidents. What you see is exactly what gets written back to disk.

What Happens When You Open and Save a CSV ✅ Verbatim Text Preserved
Field Type Raw CSV Text Standard Spreadsheet (Excel / Calc) NanoCell CSV
Postal Code / Area ID "004291" 4291 (Leading zeros stripped!) 004291 (Byte-exact preserved)
International Phone "+44 7911 123456" 447911123456 (+ sign lost!) +44 7911 123456 (Exact string)
Product Part SKU "9876E5" 9.88E+08 (Corrupted to float!) 9876E5 (Untouched identifier)
ISO Timestamp String "2026-05-12" 12/05/2026 (Forced localized rewrite) 2026-05-12 (Clean ISO preserved)
⚙️
In Settings (Ctrl+G): You can set your preferred delimiter (comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe), choose text encodings like UTF-8, enforce strict quotation rules, and automatically remove empty rows and columns when opening files.

Data Validation: Stick to standards

Clean messy headers, invalid commas, and mixed international dates for database import in just a few clicks
The Pain Point

You need to bulk import a CSV into PostgreSQL (\COPY), Snowflake, or MySQL (LOAD DATA). The pipeline crashes halfway through.

The culprit: column headers contain spaces or illegal characters (e.g. "Order Total ($)"), two columns share the same name, cells have invisible trailing spaces, European decimal numbers use commas (19,95), or mixed international dates swap months and days.

The NanoCell Solution

Run Validate Headers or Validate Data. NanoCell scans the entire dataset and displays proposed fixes in the virtualized Validation Pane.

Review proposed changes side-by-side and click Accept All to execute every fix in a single atomic transaction that can be undone in one Ctrl+Z!

Validation Rules & Proposed Cell Transformations Validation Engine
Issue Category Original Value (Dirty) Sanitized Value (Proposed Fix)
Header Syntax "Customer First-Name" customer_first_name (Converted to clean SQL identifier)
Duplicate Header "total" (Second occurrence) total_c4 (Auto-disambiguated with column index)
Whitespace Trimming "  Paris, France  " "Paris, France" (Padded whitespace stripped)
Decimal Comma Coercion "149,95" "149.95" (European decimal comma to dot in numbers)
Embedded Line Break "Building A\nSuite 4" "Building A|Suite 4" (Dangerous newline replaced with pipe)
Date Standardization "24/09/2026" (DD/MM/YYYY) "2026-09-24" (Standardized to ISO-8601 via >12 rule)
⌨️
Validation Shortcuts: Press Ctrl+Shift+H to validate headers, Ctrl+Shift+P to validate data, or click Validate Date Format in the toolbar.
🛡️
Date Ambiguity Safeguard: When date parts cannot be determined with certainty (e.g. "03/05/2026" where both numbers are ≤ 12), NanoCell refuses to guess and warns you instead of risking data corruption.
⚙️
In Settings (Ctrl+G): You can customize validation rules to fit your target requirements:
  • Turn European decimal commas into dots for numeric values
  • Replace commas in text fields with dashes
  • Convert double quotes into single quotes
  • Replace line breaks inside cells with pipes (|)
  • Force all text to lowercase

100% Private: Your Data Never Leaves Your Computer

Sensitive customer data, never get uploaded to any external server. The app works 100% offline.
The Pain Point

Uploading sensitive company records, financial numbers, or customer lists to online spreadsheet websites puts your private data at risk.

Most online tools send your files to their servers, where your data can be stored, analyzed, or accidentally exposed.

The NanoCell Solution

NanoCell runs 100% on your own computer inside your browser. No files are ever sent to an external server. Your data never leaves your machine.

Disconnect your Wi-Fi or turn on airplane mode—NanoCell runs completely offline. You can install it on your desktop without needing admin rights.

💻
Desktop Installation: You can install NanoCell directly from your browser's address bar (click the install icon). It launches in its own dedicated window without browser toolbars, starts instantly, and works completely offline without needing admin privileges.
